Overview The Dorman Lehman Collection contains materials relating to the Overland Trails with an emphasis on the Leavenworth and Pike’s Peak Express. The collection of maps, research notes, correspondence, articles, and surveys was given to the Smoky Hill Trail Association by Mr. Lehman at the annual conference in Russell, Kansas in October 2014.

Overview The Smoky Hill Trail Association was established in 2007 to preserve, promote and interpret the heritage of the Smoky Hill Trail which ran from Atchison, Kansas to Denver, Colorado beginning in 1859. The archives of the Association are located in Forsyth Library on the campus of Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas.

Scope and Contents The Tim Johnson Collections consist of materials of historical interest collected and donated by Tim Johnson. These collections include manuscripts such as correspondence, maps, and other documents. There are a significant number of photographs in various formats such as cabinet cards, stereoview cards, and some photographic postcards or carte-de-visite.
